Irrigation Water Measurement
Agriculture on the Colorado River Indian Reservation is
predominately flood irrigated with water delivered from the Colorado
River via an extensive irrigation ditch system that extends over
most of the irrigable lands. In recent
years, it has become increasingly important to measure and account for
individual and total irrigation water use.
Extension partnered with CRIT and the USDA Natural Resources
Conservation Service, Parker Valley Resource Conservation District, Bureau of
Reclamation, Bureau of Indian Affairs and FFA youth to construct an irrigation
water measurement educational site to provide workshops and training on methods
and importance of water measurement
